About Us

Years of Serving South Yarra
Welcome to St Martin’s Anglican Church, South Yarra
St Martin’s is an Anglican parish located in Melbourne’s inner suburb of South Yarra, just a short 100-metre walk from Hawksburn Station. We are an inclusive and friendly community with a servant’s heart for those around us.
‘Hawksburn’ is one of those rare places in Australia — a locality that never quite became a suburb in its own right but remains deeply loved by those who call it home. St Martin’s is proud to be one of the few institutions that continues to embody and celebrate this unique local history.
Founded in 1883 as a chapel of ease for those working in the homes of South Yarra and Toorak, St Martin’s soon grew into a parish in its own right. The church was among the first Anglican congregations to embrace Anglo-Catholic vestments — the traditional garments worn by priests — as early as the 1880s. Today, our mission is to express our rich Anglican traditions in fresh and meaningful ways for the 21st century.
At St Martin’s, we hold a form of worship most days except Friday. Some services include Holy Communion, while others feature Morning Prayer. Morning prayer is often led by parishioners.
We’re also a social and welcoming bunch — we love going to the movies, dining out, and enjoying fellowship over coffee or tea after services. Our Sunday 10am service is always followed by morning tea (and often cake!) as we celebrate birthdays and special occasions together.
So why not come and see for yourself? Whether you’re exploring faith, returning to church, or simply wandered in by mistake — you’re welcome at St Martin’s.
